Background

A total of 14 classrooms cater to an average of one hundred children from Sariaya, Quezon who are enrolled at the Emiliano Gala Memorial Elementary School during each school year. On a daily basis, the school strives to provide the education its young students deserve and need in order for them to build their individual futures and support their families someday.

With a community bursting with motivated learners and teachers, the school shrines through thick and thin. However, a significant unfortunate tragedy had encountered the community in late 2017, when 5 of their classrooms were burned down. Moving forward, the school attempted to continue conducting most classes within their covered court, while the Kindergarteners would make use of the principal’s office.

Since then, the students and faculty at Emiliano Gala Memorial Elementary School remain motivated in spite of the many trials and tribulations they face, as they strive to keep the passion to learn alive in their hearts and minds.

Impact Stories

Through donations from BPI and Dunkin Donuts, three new classrooms now stand as second homes for the students and teachers of the Emiliano Gala Memorial Elementary School.

Although students have experienced many unfortunate challenges, their lack of motivation to learn has been easily remedied by the additional classrooms they’ve received through HOPE. Each student’s learning experience has become more convenient with the spacious, well-ventilated, and more comfortable areas they can now use to participate in their classes.

With over 300 students benefiting from the new classrooms since 2021, the bright young minds of Sariaya can look forward to more opportunities, and a more hopeful tomorrow.
