Background

Daliao Elementary School in Sarangani has been operational since 2019 and has a student population of 466. Despite there being 11 working classrooms, four of them are considered substandard. Three of the four were built many decades ago in the 1970s and have been declared condemned due to damage over the years from fallen coconut trees. The remaining classroom was improvised from the school gymnasium. Due to the low-quality state of the classrooms, classes are often called off during the rainy season since they are not properly walled and hence experience flooding.

HOPE provided two new classrooms to add to the nine in Daliao, one for Grade 5 students in the mini gymnasium and another for the same grade in a makeshift classroom.
