Background

Kiaol Elementary School is situated in Glan, Sarangani and now hosts 107 students. It was built in 2021 when parents donated two hectares of land to the Department of Education. The donated land was converted into school grounds, specifically made for the youth residing in the area. Initially, Kiaol ES had no comfort rooms onsite, as well as no source of electricity or water. Despite these inconveniences, students stay motivated and dedicated to their education, while teachers do everything in their power to keep their students in school.

Impact Stories

Since the HOPE classroom was put up, it has become the trademark of the school and a beacon of light that inspires students to learn. The impact that HOPE has had on Kiaol ES is palpable. “Tuwing nakikita nila ang building, ito ang tumatatak sa isipan na may paaralan na sa KES,” one teacher shared.

In the eyes of the teachers, the new classroom elevates the image of the community; the school exudes an aura of professionalism that touches all aspects of the locality. The classroom signifies a better future for the youth of Kiaol. One teacher described the inauguration of the classroom as the start of their “glorious” future.

All in all, the project was a success in motivating students and teachers alike. “Ang HOPE classroom ay blessing na nagbibigay ng pag-asa hindi lang sa mga tao sa community, sa kabataan pati sa akin at kasamahan ko na teacher, one teacher said when asked what the classroom means to them and the Kiaol community.
