Background

Within sight of Bicol’s famous Mayon Volcano lies a large sign that reads “I HEART CASINI ES,” showcasing itself to visitors and members of the Casini Elementary School set in Irosin, Sorsogon. Students carry a similar sense of warmth in them as an eagerness to learn flows throughout the school grounds.

As of 2020, nearly three hundred young indigenous minds are the majority of the elementary school’s population, which is also composed of a community of coconut, corn and root crop farmers. The students and teachers do their best to stay motivated and inspired to learn as they turn the four makeshift classrooms built with the help of the area locals into their second home. Unfortunately, the temporary classrooms have succumbed to damage through the course of time.

Throughout everything, the school and its members try to remain motivated to continue their educational journey as they shape their tomorrows.

Impact Stories

Casini Elementary School’s warm environment is further nurtured with the addition of two new HOPE classrooms, donated by Ruben Lacasama and Starlacs Konstruct, to provide comfort, safety and peace of mind for its community. These rooms become safe spaces wherein young Filipino students can develop their collaborative skills to benefit them as they grow into the person they dream to become someday.

Aside from this, the new buildings have provided additional shelter and hope as the school simultaneously functions as an evacuation center and quarantine facility in various situations.

The school continues to serve as a source of warmth and generosity as students are fueled by the focus and confidence the HOPE classrooms contribute. With these additions, the youth of Casini can continue dreaming for a better and brighter future.
