The Vita Coco Project
In 2014, HOPE partnered with Vita Coco, the world’s leading Coconut Water brand, to create the Vita Coco Project. For every pack sold, Php 5 is donated to support the communities from where they source their coconuts. The Vita Coco Project is able to support thousands of coconut farmers around the country through the following interventions:
Replanting
Distributing high-quality coconut and intercrop-certified variety seedlings increases capacity, replaces senile trees, and populates unproductive land.
TRAINING
End-to-end training on coconut and intercrop production improves skills and increases productivity
INTERCROPPING
Introducing high value or cash crops in between existing trees and livestock increases farmers’ income
MARKET ACCESS
Through CocoUber, a HOPE initiative that connects farmers directly to manufacturing partners, farmers have more access to demand and higher pricing due to less dependence on middlemen
MICROBREEDING
In partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority, HOPE teaches farmers microbreeding techniques to create hybrid offspring that produce more yield.
