Background

Mananum Daan Elementary School in Misamis Oriental houses 270 students, most of whom need to trek for 45 minutes on rough and cemented roads to get there. The surrounding community primarily has a livelihood of woodcutting and coconut farming. The school also serves as a site for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Colloquially called 4Ps, it is a cash transfer program catered to the impoverished with the goal of curbing nutritional deficiencies in students. There are currently six working classrooms in Mananum Daan, two of which were donated by HOPE.
